INVITE A BUTLER FOR LUNCH

I had a little shack in Sag Harbor for several summers before I lived in Italy.
Here is the Butler having lunch in the garden during a visit. He calls this photo "After Fit For Life", which we were both doing at the time, over 20 years ago, with much success as you can see. Well....much success for the Butler, notice, I'm not in the photo.

See that red plastic glass? I still have that glass and every day, EVERYDAY!!! since we did "shit for life" (as the Butler so aptly named it), I've had that glass full of fresh squeezed orange juice.

The Butler made me throw the yellow plastic glasses away, but I still have that orange spoon and those two white plates.

AND!!! I still have the friendship of the Butler

Cool, no?

Love the photo. Love the yellow glasses also.

It is so much fun getting to know both of you and the butler through your blogging.

There's just nothing like a good, long friendship. I feel so lucky to eavesdrop on a few of them here in blogworld. This one most of all.

Happy Sunday, RQM!

Molto freddo!

Ahhh, a shirtless Butler dining al fresco.

I'm happy. I'm really, really happy.

Those yellow cups had to go my dear. The Butler, as always, was right.

I'll be smiling all day.

Thanks....

Very cool indeed.....

Much more cool is the amazing friendship that has survived all of adventures you've both had!

You kept the red plastic cup; how wonderfully sentimental.

BTW..... I saw the quilts at Connie's blog and they are just beautiful works of art!

Thanks for sharing them with us!

Oh my God! I just saw them, too--and saw you, and how is it that a little glimpse makes me so happy? But it does.

How do you prevent puckers when you're attaching the back panel? Seriously. How do you make the corners so clean?? I try and try--I've been so pleased with a few I've made. But there's always some major glitch, usually in putting front and back together.

I'm telling you, this may call for a field trip!

"Shit for life!" That was my mom's name for it, too! :-)

You take very good care of your things. :-)

And it's VERY cool that you take better care of your friendships!

You Gals and Guys make me feel great.

Inger..there is an attachment for the machine called a "walking foot" which is the magic gizmo that keeps the three layers together, so no puckering. It's a miracle I tell you.

Walking foot. Is that the little foot that presses down the materials? I don't think that's my problem. I pin the whole thing--every ten inches or so around the edges. It looks perfectly flat--no puckers, nada. But inevitably, by the time I've closed three sides, the fourth is verkachte; somehow, suddenly, there's too much material on the back and not enough on the front, or vice versa. Oh, the messy solutions I've come up with--pleats or patches, the seams of which I try to hide in the quilting, always unsuccessfully.

Alas, could be a simple absence of the meticulous, in which case it's utterly hopeless. :)

Inger, Dear Inger,
I'm more convinced than ever...

YOU NEED A FIELD TRIP.

Come On Down and BRING THE ANGELS!

Until then...get a walking foot and pin the whole quilt top every 4 inches. Yes...that much, yes.
